The Night of Museums is already on this Saturday!

As always, the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War will take part in the Night of Museums in Opole. This year’s event will take place under the telling name Despite everything. So to interpret the words in accordance with our mission, we have prepared interesting propositions for those who will visit out seat in Opole at 3 Minorytów Street, and, specially, for internet users.

From 6 to 8 p.m. you are welcome to take a curatorial tour of the temporary exhibition Spring, Summer, WAR... Warsaw 1939 (prepared by the History Meeting House), which presents photographs by the American photojournalist Julien Bryan, the Polish conspirator Sylwester "Kris" Braun, and the German correspondent Wilhelm Haase Lampe. That, and also the permanent exhibition Miejsce Pamięci Narodowej w Łambinowicach - dziedzictwo regionalne, narodowe, europejskie [The Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice -  local, national and European heritage ], is possible to be seen throughout the duration of the event (from6.00 p.m. to 00.00 p.m.), as well, the animated film Marian na wojnie [Marian’s War] (produced by the Polish History Museum), which presents the wartime life of Marian Walentynowicz, the author of the Koziołek Matołek cartoons [Matołek the Billy-Goat], and war correspondent for General Stanisław Maczek's 1st Armoured Division.  An online meeting, at 8 p.m., (on the CMJW's YouTube channel) with a journalist, reporter and war correspondent, Maria Wiernikowska, sounds to be very promising too. There will also be a mysterious surprise with a prize. Despite everything!

The Night of Museums in Opole is a joint undertaking of the State Archive in Opole, the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War, the Diocesan Museum in Opole, the Museum of Polish Song in Opole, the Opole Silesia Museum, the Opole University Museum, and the Opole Village Museum in Opole. The event was held under the honorary patronage of Andrzej Buła, Marshal of Opole Province, and Arkadiusz Wiśniewski, Mayor of Opole.

You are welcome to attend it! We start at 6 p.m. The detailed programme, including all the institutions, is here.
