The 44th volume of Łambinowice Museum Yearbook is about to come out

Intensive works are pending to release another volume of the Museum’s scientific periodical. The authors of articles to be published on pages of the 44th Łambinowice Museum Yearbook, are from various research institutions, and the papers written by them will cover sport activities in POW and internment camps.

Last year’s sporting events were a so much-needed way of focusing on issues other than the pandemic. First, there was the Euro 2020 football championship, then, athletes competed again each other at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, organised in 2021, instead 2020. The above-mentioned events provided us with an opportunity to reminisce about the special significance of sports activities in prisoner-of-war camps during World War II. For that reason, the decision was made that the 44th volume of the "Łambinowice Museum Yearbook" will be devoted to this unique form of human activity.

The editors of the publication are Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska and Dr. Kamil Weber. The editorial review will be handled by Dr. Ryszard Wryk, a historian from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, who does, among other things, research work on the history of Polish sport during World War II. Papers were submitted by: Prof. Anna Matuchniak-Mystkowska from the University of Łódź, Prof. Renata Urban from the University of Szczecin, Dr. Jan Daniluk from the University of Gdańsk, Dr. Kamil Weber and Maria Bula from the Research Department of our Museum. However, they are just few from more authors who are about to publish their articles in the journal. The voulme is scheduled to come out this spring.

We will inform you when the yearbook is released, but for now we would like to invite you to read the volumes from 2009-2020 [here] or earliest ones, which are available, for example, in the reading room of our Museum.
