Meeting on “Art and War” – report

The second anniversary of the outbreak of war in Ukraine was the reason for organising numerous cultural and social events. As an institution belonging to the group of museums of martyrdom, we invited the Opole public to take part in a meeting inspired by the exhibition "Poster Against War" hosted at the Museum's Opole seat.

The event was inaugurated by the Director of the Museum, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, together with the Honorary Consul of Ukraine, Irena Pordzik, and the President of the Branch of Opole Province of the Association for Polish-Eastern Cooperation, Daria Ogon. Shortly after the introduction the audience's attention focused on the talk of Dr. Joanna Filipczyk with Romuald Jeziorowski about the history of anti-war posters.

The other item on the agenda shifted visual arts to words, and the guests were treated to a presentation by poets Harry Duda and Elżbieta Lisak-Duda, accompanied by Victoria Bakasova - a Ukrainian actress living in Opole who captivated the public with her moving recitation of works in her native language.

The culmination of the meeting was the presentation of Alla Krekotnieva's music video, directed by her. The song performed in it by the singer from the group Vivienne Mort was dedicated to the memory of the Ukrainian poet Maxim Kryvtsov, killed in Mariupol on 7 January this year.

A thank you to the guests and organisers, as well as informal talks concluded the event.
