Matian Nowak is the protagonist of the meeting in Łambinowice. Invitation!

Expression of forged and welded sheet metal. The artistic work of Marian Nowak is the title of the first instalment of our "Łambinowice Museum Meetings" cultural series in 2023. You are invited to the event on 1 March by the president of the Association of Friends of the CMJW, Dr. Iwona Konopnicka, and the director of the Museum, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska.

The figure of Marian Nowak (1921-2000) will be presented by Dr. Joanna Filipczyk, director of the Contemporary Art Gallery in Opole, art historian and author of many publications on the artistic life of the Opole region after the World War II. Marian Nowak - the author of figural sculptures on two pylons of the Łambinowice monument, thus one the creators of the Monument to the Martyrdom of Prisoners-of-War, which for almost 60 years has been an important landmark of the visual identification of the Museum and the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice - occupies an important place in realm of her interest. The moderator of the meeting will invite guests to watch the film 'Not Only Pegasus', prepared in 2021 (on the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth) and produced according to her concept.

The profile of Marian Nowak has already been presented by the Museum in 2014 at a meeting in the "Faces of Opole" series, and then found its way onto the pages of our "Faces of Opole. Faces of the Museum" publication (2015). Wednesday's meeting will be an opportunity to purchase this book.
