The last resident exhibition – an educational offer

Until the end of January 2024, there will be presented The last resident of Lubomirski Palace. General Mieczysław Smorawiński, a temporary exhibition borrowed from the "Under the Clock" Museum of the Martyrdom - a branch of the National Museum in Lublin. It has been adapted to the exhibition space and the needs of the Museum’s Opole seat. The exhibition is accompanied by an educational offer prepared by us.

The offer includes a curatorial tour of the exhibition and workshops on the subject closely related to the exposition in accordance with the educational programme basics of different levels, and the age of the young audience.

Schoolchildren in first, second and third grade can attend classes combining basic historical knowledge, among other things, about the realities of life in pre-war Poland, with practical calligraphy lessons, while elder pupils (4-8 years) can participate in workshops on epistolograph, during which they will discover how fascinating was the world of their ancestors interpreted through the prism of correspondence from that time, as well as explore the art of writing on their own by writing a letter on the topic proposed by the educator. On the other hand, secondary school students can count on more analytical workshops focus on the figure of General Mieczysława Smorawiński and thus deepening their understanding the issues such as the ethos of a pre-war officer or making decisions in the face of uncertainty and danger to his own life and that of his subordinates. All of this is included in the context of Poland's road to independence, captivity of Polish officers in the NKVD camps (1939-1940) and the Katyń Massacre.
