Workshops for preschoolers

As part of the Freedom is in them. Warsaw Insurgents 1944-2022 project, we have prepared a series of historical workshops for preschool children for 10 kindergartens of the Opole Province. In June and July, children of three nursery schools took part in these workshops, and other meetings are planned to be held after the summer.

The script of the workshops is a result of the engagement of Zuzanna Nierenberg who has been cooperating with our Museum on many educational projects. The workshops for preschoolers, through successive intellectual tasks, introduce the very difficult, in both a content and emotional meaning, subject of children in the Warsaw Uprising. One of the ways to achieve this goal, where children are “taken back in time” to the 1st of August 1944, after which, through photographs and consciously selected artefacts, such as an old suitcase, newspaper cuttings or a small piece of bread, are introduced into the most essential aspects related to the life of the youngest insurgents

So far, there have been given  workshops in the Opole kindergarten of the Association of Catholic School Friends, the 'Przed-Szkółka' Arts and Science Kingdom, and the Blessed Mother Teresa Private Kindergarten of the Congregation of School Sisters of Notre Dame in Opole. Other workshops will be given not only in the voivodeship's capital, but also in Niemodlin, Łambinowice, Kluczbork and Namysłów.

The workshops are given as part of the project subsidised by the Multiannual Government Programme "Niepodległa" for 2022.

The photos were taken at the Blessed Mother Teresa Private Kindergarten of the Congregation of School Sisters of Notre Dame in Opole.
