Work of the CMJW during the flood in the Opole region
Due to extreme rainfalls in the Opole region, we would like to inform you of the cancellation of the meeting planned for Tuesday, 17 September, “A Moving Testimony. The Archive of Dr. Jan Robel.”
The event planned for next Tuesday will not take place due to the changing water level in the Opole Province. The meeting will be rescheduled to another date once the situation has stabilised. We will inform you about the new date and time as soon as possible.
We would like to reassure those who are concerned for the Museum safety that both buildings of the institution are safe. However, the fallout caused – diffcitult to establish at the moment – demage to the site of the former Stalag 318/VIII F (344) Lamsdorf where the remains of the huts have been partially flooded. The team led by Dr. Dawid Kobiałka, conducting archaeological research on the site of the Old POWs Cemetery, has also been hit by the element. The rainwater is being cleared up as we speak.
The Museum is understaffed at the moment but works as usual.
