Witold Pilecki is the hero of the May episode of “Łambinowice Museum Meetings”

Another episode of the much-liked “Łambinowice Museum Meetings” series will take place soon. The opportunity to that is provided by one of the latest Museum’s publications: Witold Pilecki. Jeniec wojenny nr 101892 [Witold Pilecki. Prisoner-of-War No. 101892]. Its author, Dr. Piotr Stanek, Head of the Research Department of the Museum, will be your and our guest. The event will begin at 5 p.m., this Wednesday 24 May, at the Museum's seat at 4 Muzealna Street in Łambinowice.

There has been already told and written so much about the figure of Witold Pilecki, that it might seem that further publications on his subject will not bring anything new. Nothing could be further from the truth! Firstly, the book, which Dr. Piotr Stanek is going to present, develops threads related to the Rittmeister's stay in the prisoner-of-war camps: Stalag 344 Lamsdorf and Oflag VII A Murnau, and just precisely these very facts are very little known. Secondly, the author, conducting his research, more than once came across inaccuracies, insinuations, and even mistakes in the literature on the subject, which means that conviction about the rich factogrpahy on the Rittmeister, and its detailed elaboration, not always correspond reality, and is worth continuing research in that regard.

All the more reason for us to encourage you to confront your knowledge and perceptions of the man who is counted among the most courageous conspirators of wartime Europe with the findings of Dr. Piotr Stanek. The book will be available for purchase at a discount price.

You are cordially invited to attend the meeting!
