Virtual tour to the former POW camp

Stalag VIII F/318 (344), so-called Russenlager, existed from July 1941 to March 1945. Its main purpose was to accommodate the most numerous  (about 200 thousand soldiers) and ill-treated by Germans, group of Soviet POWs, of which as many as about 40 thousands died in Lamsdorf. In the camp, were also housed prisoners-of-war from other armies: Italian, Yugoslav, Greek, as well as Polish, French and Romanian.

Presently, the only material remnant of Stalag VIII F Lamsdorf is a fenced area where one can find the remains of POW huts. You can also find there a granite obelisk: Monument to Warsaw Insurgents – POWs of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf which marks the stay of about 6 thousand of soldiers of the Home Army who got here after the fall of the Uprising in Warsaw.

For years the place has been a destination for thousands of history lovers from Poland and around the world. The place is visited by organized groups as individuals, in guided or self-guided tours. For all of those who have not had a chance to see the camp we offer this virtual tour: http://www.cmjw.pl/wirtualny-spacer/index.html
