Together with the Museum out of the Museum
5-8 June was a very busy date for us. All thanks to our participation in various events: The Oder Book Fair in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, the Book Festival (in Opole) and the Opole Voivodeship Festival.
We started our promotional marathon on Thursday (5 June) with our presence at the Book Fair upon the Oder in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Not only did we sell our publications at one of the stands there, but we also participated in the accompanying events – Dr. Anna Czerner and Dr. Kamil Weber from the CMJW’s Research Department presented the catalogue of the exhibition ‘I love You, see You...’ during a meeting with the creators held at the main square in Koźle.
On Friday (6 June), on the other hand, we commenced our three-day work as exhibitors at the Book Festival, which was organised in Opole for the ninth time, this year even given a greater impetus than before. In addition to visiting the bookstands of various publishers, visitors could enjoy a wide range of workshops, games and plays for children, concerts and meetings with authors. For us, it was gratifying that, despite the specialised subject matter, not only did our books, papers and exhibition catalogues find dozens of buyers, but we also had a number of interesting conversations with history enthusiasts.
Yet another experience was our presence at the Opole Voivodeship Festival, held on Sunday (8 June) in the castle park in Moszna. This is an annual event organised by the Self-government of Opole Province which aims at integrating the province’s inhabitants and presenting various regional cultural and social initiatives. Among the attendees of the event there were mostly families with children, for whom we prepared a quiz and history riddles, colouring books with poems by Barbara ‘Wirta’ Lewandowska, leaflets on the Museum and the Site of Remembrance, and museum gifts for the most active visitors to our stand.
