The Upper Silesian Tragedy. Commemoration in Łambinowice

On the last Sunday of January, the German Social-Cultural Societies in Poland organised, as it does each year, a commemoration of the Upper Silesian Tragedy Remembrance Day. The main event, with the participation of Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Bula, took place at the Site of National in Łambinowice.

On Sunday, 29 January, there were commemorated events that took place in Silesia when the Red Army entered Silesia (1945-1946). They encompassed prosecution of the indigenous Silesian population by the Soviet, and later, Polish communist apparatus. The commemorations commenced with a Holy Mass in the Saint Maria Magdalen Church in Łambinowice, the after which the participants went to the Cemetery of the Victims of the Labour Camp, where they laid wreaths and lit candles. In the last part of the event, a meeting was held in the village hall of the nearby village of Bielice, during which Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Buła, deputy director of the Museum, delivered the lecture "About the Labour Camp in Łambinowice from the perspective of the families". She began the talk with the presentation of a film from the "...but that's different story now 2" Museum's series, which tells about the post-war fate of the Silesian Skade family.

We would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to watch the film "Zapiski z Łambinowic" again:
