
The sixth volume of the Sketches from the History of Lamsdorf Camps...
It is already in May, another volume, the sixth one, of Sketches from the History of Lamsdorf/Łambinowice Camps. History and the Present Day, will be available to readers. This popular series consist of material on history of all Lamsdorf/Łambinowice camps in the years 1870-1946.
It has already been the second issue edited by Dr. Piotr Stanek (Head of the Research Department of the CMJW), who is also the author of one of the articles on the Jesuit father Józef Hołubowicz, chaplain to the French prisoners-of-war in the Lamsdorf camp in the years 1870-1871. Other authors have also taken up interesting topics. Kamil Weber (the CMJW) dealt with the wartime fate of the airman Lieutenant Leszek Owsiany. Maria Bula (the CMJW) presented findings concerning a part of the camp staff of Stalag 318/VIII F Lamsdorf. Marek Michalski (an independent researcher) and Sebastian Różycki (the Warsaw University of Technology) analysed archival aerial photographs of the Lamsdorf camps from the Second World War. In turn, Dr. Anna Czerner (the CMJW) conducted a sociological analysis of the phenomenon of emotions at the Site National Remembrance in Łambinowice. The whole volume closes with a summary of the construction and restoration works carried out in 2020 on the site of Stalag 318/VIII F (344) Lamsdorf by Engineer Bogdan Malinowski (Alta sp. z o.o. in Wrocław) and Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska.
