The Sieniawka Project

Our Museum is supporting the realization of a research project entitle ,,History of the sub-camp of the Gross Rosen concentration camp in Sieniwka”. The research project has been initiated by The Lower Silesian Historical Association, which also invited the Gross-Rosen Museum in Rogoźnica and the Warsaw University of Technology to join in.

Currently research are conducted, but, as soon as it is possible, works on the terrain in Sieniawka (Bogatynia Community) and around it will be initiated.  The works will involve archaeology experts and specialists at interpretation of aerial photography.

The main purpose of the project is clarification of the fate of the prisoners from the sub-camp and other individuals made to force work in the armament plant of Junkers (Zittwerke), which was in operation in Sieniawka during Second World War. The team will also be involved in examining the hypothesis of  a supposed underground armaments complex there. We will keep you informed about further stages of the progress.
