The Night of Museums in our Museum

The programme of the 14th edition of the Night of Museums in our Museum is focused on animals, especially one – Corporal Wojtek from the Polish Armed Forces. For all events, we would like to invite you to the Opole seat of the Museum at Minorytów Street, from 6 to 11:59 p.m.

Alongside curatorial tour of the expositions, we would like to bring you attention to some events in our offer:

  • one-hour workshops for families with children Wojtek. Pomóź nam znaleść drogę do domu [Wojtek! Help us find our way home] at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. There will be art workshops given by Natalia Nosova – in Polish and Ukraine – and competition in the board game Miś Wojtek.
  • the screening of the 10-minute film Miś Wojtek [Wojtek the Bear], which accompanies the temporary exhibition Zwierzęta maskotki w Polskich Siłach Zbrojnych w latach 1918–1945 [Mascot Animals in the Polish Armed Forces in 1918-1945], prepared by the Army Museum in Białystok. It is an animation from the What if Animals Talked? series produced by the Institute of National Remembrance. This screening will be accompanied by quizzes with prizes,
  • an online meeting with singer Katy Carr who is considered to be an ambassador of Polish history and culture in Great Britain. The conversation, which will be possible to attend at the museum and on our Facebook page, will be hosted by Natalia Kryjom-Barylak and Dominik Marcinkowski from the Section of Communication and Public Image between 8.15 p.m. and 9 p.m.,
  • For all those who are interested in the fate of Antonina and Jan Żabiński, who managed the Warsaw zoo during World War II, there will be screenings (at 7.30 p.m., 9.00 p.m., 10.00 p.m., and 11.00 p.m.) of a documentary film O zwierzętach i ludziach [About Animals and People].
