The Night of Museums 2025 – report

The motto of this year's Night of Museums was “Night Silence”. The event was participated by 16 Opole-based institutions, both museums and other establishments such as libraries. Our Museum prepared a special offer for the occasion, combining guided tours of exhibitions with workshops for children, and several proposals for young people and grown-ups.

The long Saturday evening with culture, science and art kicked off at 6 p.m., in Opole and, despite the bad weather, attracted many visitors. The hosts of the institutions taking part in the Night of Museums once again joined forces in a fun and informative ‘Find the Intruder’ activity, and so, for example, an object on loan from the State Archives in Opole was placed on our exhibition. In addition to the permanent display, visitors could also visit the temporary exhibition ‘The Shadow was only left’ - the result of the Museum's cooperation with the Public High School of Fine Arts in Opole, which included an art installation prepared by students, objects related to the fate of the Warsaw insurgents in captivity, their portraits and film footage. A great interest was also taken by those wishing to try their hand at a quiz with prizes.

For those who preferred to use their senses of hearing and imagination, we prepared a space for listening to our radio drama ‘We were here’ - players with headphones, handy colouring books or archive photos projected onto a large screen allowed immersion in the sounds and plot of the play. Young people and adults were also treated to a lecture entitled ‘A story without censorship and pathos’, which attracted a large and keenly interested audience in what was after all not an easy subject. On the other hand, our youngest visitors took part in a workshop entitled ‘Mrs. Teddy Bear’, in which we used a colouring book published by the Museum with poems by Barbara ‘Wirta’ Lewandowska, and drawings made by Ewelina Kędzia.

We consider the Night of Museums to have been a success, although the rainy weather thwarted our plans, and we had to prematurely end the screening of films in the museum’s courtyard. The last guests left our place at midnight.
