The meeting The Power of Taste? Life in the stalags in Lamsdorf

The first, post-holiday instalment of the cultural series of the "Łambinowice Museum Meetings" will be organized within the framework of the European Heritage Days, and will take place this Wednesday, 8 September, at 5 p.m.

The meeting entitled The Power of Taste? Life in the stalags in Lamsdorf (1939-1945) refers to the motto of the 29th edition of the EHD: "Tastes of Heritage" and will be an opportunity to talk about the living conditions in the Lamsdorf camps, the diet of the prisoners-of-war, as well as their efforts in this regard to preserve their physical and mental health. The Museum's collection of everyday items, photographs, prisoner-of-war diaries and memoirs will provide extensive of knowledge on the subject.

The question will be addressed by Dr. Ewelina Klimczak from the Education and Exhibition Department, who will also draw the participants' attention to the fact that even in such harsh camp conditions (starvation rations, lack of hygiene) man still felt the need to experience taste and beauty.

You are invited to the meeting at the Museum in Łambinowice by the Head of the Field Branch of the National Heritage Institute in Opole. Dr. Joanna Banik, the President of the Association of Friends of the CMJW, Dr. Iwona Konopnicka, and the Director of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska.
