The first “lesson from reading the landscape” has taken place

On 5 July, Łambinowice faced a storm and heavy rain forcing a change in the organisation of the first episode of the series of archaeological walks. Nevertheless, the announced “lesson from reading the landscape” took place – as an exception, not in the field, but under the Museum’s roof.

The interested in this unusual topic participants had an opportunity to listen to interesting talks by Kamil Karski, MA, Dr. Dawid Kobiałka and Professor Michał Pawleta. The archaeologists from the research team of the project 'Science for Society, Society for Science at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice', presented different methods of getting and analysing data for the evaluation of a specific site in the context of archaeological work. On what basis can we tell what a specific location posses the given object? How should a ground-penetrating radar measurements be read? What can we learn from the LIDAR method? These and similar questions were comprehensively answered.

Soon, on 12 July at 5.00 p.m., we will meet for another "lesson from reading the landscape", with the hope that it will be taking place, this time without any hindrance, in the form of an archaeological walk.

You are warmly welcome!
