The final of the special anniversary edition of the POW Poetry Recitation Contest Let's not lose our memory, which took place on 14 April at the Museum seat in Łambinowice, hosted students from all over the Opole Province for the thirtieth time, ready to take part in demanding auditions. A total of 81 participants performed in three age categories: 9-12 years-old, 13-15 years-old and 16-19 years-old.

The jury consisted of writers, actors and philologists associated with Opole Silesia included: Edmund Borzemski, Ludmiła Małgorzata Sobolewska, Elżbieta Lisak-Duda, Artur Paczesny, Adriana Jarosz, Andrzej Jakubczyk, Cecylia Jacewska-Caban, Iwona Ratajczak i Barbara Grzegorczyk. The jurors decided to award the following prizes:

• 9-12 years-old

First Prize – Magdalena Bawełkiewicz from Zespół Szkolno-Przedszkolny TAK in Opole, taught by Roksana Rał-Niemeczek;

Second Prize – Julia Czubasiewicz from Publiczna Szkoła Podstawową in Łambinowice, taught by przez Violetta Junka;

Third Prize – Hanna Jabłońska from Publiczna Szkoła Podstawowa No. 1 in Brzeg, taught by Beata Rudyk;

Distniction – Bartosz Kocik from Publiczna Szkoła Podstawowa No. 10 in Opole, taught by Jodwiga Kubas.

• 13–15 years-old

First Prize – Magdalena Rupacz from Zespół Szkolno-Przedszkolny in Krośnica, taught by Piotr Woźnica;

Second Prize – Emilia Cichy from Szkoła Podstawowa in Łambinowice, taught by Ilona Karpińska;

Third Prize – Emilia Jarosz from Szkoła Podstawowa in Łambinowice, taught by Ilona Karpińska;

Distinction – Marta Lukosz from Publiczna Szkoła Podstawowa in Luboszyce, taught by Justyna Kasprzyk-Ressel;

• 16–19 years-old

First Prize – Maria Gawłowska from Diecezjalne Liceum Humanistyczne in Nysa, taught by Lidia Rogowska;

Second Prize – Matylda Gaweł from Publiczne Liceum Ogólnokształcące No. 3 in Opole, taught by Iwona Ratajczak;

Third Prize – Łucja Gołaszewska-Siwiak from Publiczne Liceum Ogólnokształcące No. 3 in Opole, taught by Anna Szczęsna-Domagała;

Distinction – Kamila Kałużny from Zespół Szkół Ekonomicznych in Opole, taught by Beata Krywalska-Wlazło;

This year, a special prize money of PLN 500 was founded by Stanisława Borzemska and Edmund Borzemski. The winner of this prize was Antonina Lacek, from Publiczna Szkoła Podstawowa in Luboszyce, taught by Justyna Kasprzyk-Ressel.

Additionally, the teachers who prepared the winners, were also appreciated, and none of the reciters was overlooked - each of them received diplomas of participation, and since the thirtieth  anniversary of the Łambinowice Festival of the Word obliges to a unique setting, so in this year edition featured additional accents which incline us to reflect on the competition’s past and its further development. Above all, special thanks were given to those who have supported the competition over the years. It is very important that in organising future editions of the competition, we can invariably count on the help of institutions, associations, companies, as well as individuals - supporters of poetry and our Museum.

Additionally, a highlight of this special addition was the premiere screening of a documentary film about three decades of poetry at the Museum, made by Sławomir Mielnik and the CMJW’t staff, a third poetry collection, as well as a commemorative cake.

To this year’s winners, but also, on the occasion of the anniversary, all previous winners of the competition, we would like to congratulate and give thanks for such precious moments of reflection and emotions.

The competition, organised by our Museum, the Association of Friends of the CMJW, and Nysa County, enjoyed the honorary patronage of: The Voivode of Opole, Sławomir Kłosowski, the Marshall of Opole Voivodeship, Andrzej Buła, and the Opole Voivodeship Superintendent of Education, Michał Siek.
