The European Heritage Day in the Museum

On Friday, 11th of September, as part of the European Heritage, we held en event at the Museum. Our offer included two proposals that referred to the present theme of the EDD – ,,My Road”.

At 1 p.m., in Opole, we opened an exhibition Europe starts in Łambinowice…Cities and sites of the European Heritage Label. The guests were welcomed by the director of the Museum, dr. Viloletta Rezler-Wsielewska, and the content of the exhibit was presented by doctors Anna Czerner and Renata Kobylarz-Buła.  Deputy Voivode, Teresa Barańska, also took the floor, expressing her satisfaction with the inclusion of the Site of National Remembrance to the group of sits distinguished by the Sign.

The second event had a completely different – a bike ride of inhabitants of Łambinowice, people curies of the history of the Site of National Remembrance, along the roads taken by POWs during WWII. It started off at 4 p.m., and covered the railway stations in Sowin and Łambinowice, the Old Cemetery of POWs, the sites of former Stalags: 318/VIII F and VIII B (344) Lamsdorf, as well, the Cemetery of the Soviet POWs. The ride was ended with a prize quiz with the EDD logo.
