"The Christmas Carol of Survival" concert – invitation

On Three Kings' Day, we would like to invite you to a musical performance of Christmas carols at the Basilica of St. James the Apostle and St. Agnes in Nysa. The concert is organised by the Museum and the Institute of National Remembrance. The repertoire is inspired by historical reflection – dating back to the wartime reality, in which many musical works were written "to comfort the heart", hence the title of the event: "The Christmas Carol of Survival".

The Zagan Acoustic ensemble will perform popular chrismas carols and pastorals, including the aforementioned camp and occupation carols (such as Kolęda Katyńska [Katyń Carol] and Kolęda warszawskich powstańców [Carol of the Warsaw Insurgents] to a composition by Krzysztof Falkowski), arranged for five instruments. The musicians - Paweł Zagańczyk, Joachim Łuczak, Dawid Głowacki, Jarosław Stokowski and Łukasz Łapiński - will be accompanied by the vocalists: Agnieszka Brenzak-Guz and Patrycja Kunert.

In addition, the Office for Cultural Events of the Institute of National Remembrance has prepared free fliers with excerpts from the memoirs of former concentration and extermination camps' prisoners referring to the Christmas season in the camps, which will help the historical context of the works presented to be better understood.

The concert will take place on 6 January, at 7.00 p.m., at the Basilica of St. James the Apostle and St. Agnes in Nysa. You are cordially invited!
