The 78th anniversary of Warsaw Uprising is approaching

On Monday, 1 August, throughout Poland, there will be commemorated the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. On that day, at 11.00 a.m., representatives of the Museum and the Commune, and those who wish to do so, will light candles and lay flowers at the Monument to Warsaw Insurgents - Prisoners of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice.

The Museum will remember the insurgents also online. Together with the Meetingpoint Memory Messiaen e.V association and the Foundation Memory, Education, Culture, we will organise a workshop entitled Freedom is in them - Warsaw insurgents 1944-2022 for the participants of the international youth exchange "Worcation". This event will be part of the programme "Niepodległa" of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, as well as a manifestation of the cooperation of the "League of POW Remembrance" Network (about which we wrote here: https://www.cmjw.pl/en/news/league-of-pow-remembrance-network,367.html)

Additionally, at 3.15 p.m., Radio Doxa will host Dr. Kamil Weber who will talk about religious life of Warsaw Insurgent in the Wehrmacht captivity. Dominik Marcinkowski and Natalia Kryjom-Barylak, on the other hand, on Radio Opole, will discuss the fate of participants of the uprising who after its fall, were taken to Stalag 344 (Lamsdorf). On the same day, on Radio Opole will also air the first instalment of the #TuByli competition. More details will follow soon.
