The 78th anniversary of the liberation of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf is approaching

17 March 2023 will mark the 78th anniversary of the liberation of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf. Traditionally, our Museum together with the Commune Office in Łambinowice is preparing to organise celebrations commemorating this event.

The commemoration will begin at 12.00 o'clock in front of the Monument to the Martyrdom of Prisoners-of-War. The programme of the event includes:

  • singing national anthem,
  • commemorative speeches,
  • prayers,
  • roll call of remembrance,
  • gun salute,
  • laying of flowers and lighting of candles.

The commemoration enjoys the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Piotr Gliński, the Opole Voivode, Adrian Czubak, and, the Marshal of Opole Voivodship, Andrzej Bula, as well as, under the media patronage of TVP 3 Opole, Radio Opole S.A., Radio DOXA, "Nowa Trybuna Opolska” and "Nowiny Nyskie”.

The participation in the event have been declared by reresentatives of state and local government authorities and diplomatic corps of the countries whose soldiers were held at Lamsdorf, in addition to the family members of former prisoners-of-war of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf.
