The 47th volume of ‘Łambinowice Museum Yearbook’ has been Publisher
The latest volume of the Museum's scholarly periodical, which we collected from the printers on 20 May, is a theme-based publication. It is focused on collections of POW memorabilia, both family-owned and those which are at the core of the CMJW (and every museum). In this way, we highlight the significance of two anniversaries that coincide in 2025: the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Museum.
The materials published in the 47th volume are an interesting journey into the universe of prisoners-of-war of World War II, shown through the prism of their personal items. Letters, photographs, diaries and other artefacts that were once mute witnesses to tragic events now turn into valuable historical sources and carriers of memory. What makes personal belongings gain such value? What challenges do researchers face when trying to decipher their stories? The authors of the articles, accounts and memoirs published in the Yearbook, look for answers to these and many other questions.
In the volume, you will find studies by scholars and museum professionals as well as descendants of witnesses to history and owners of family collections. In this way, the ‘Łambinowice Museum Yearbook’ offers a multifaceted view of the history of POWs and the memory about them.
The journal can be purchased at both Museum seats or here. We encourage you to read it!
