Tableau donated to the Museum

Our action "Saved Memorabilia, Preserved Memory" makes that our Museum's collections are still on the increase. Since the beginning of the year, more and more people have been responding to our December announcements published in the national press, thanks to whom we receive wonderful donations. Today we will talk about the tableau displaying Ryszard Kubicki's memorabilia.

The tableau displays documents and photos from various periods of Ryszard Kubicki's life. You can find in it photos from the 1920s, such as pictures of his military service, and, accurately described, of his captivity time at Stalag I A Stablack (1940-1944). On the wooden panel there is also a photo taken in Świeradów-Zdrój, where Ryszard Kubicki settled as a military settler after the end of the war, and a portrait photograph of the non-commissioned officer dated 1979. On the back of the tableau are numbered copies of camp money vouchers and a prisoner of war identity tag. Unfortunately, there is only a typed description left of the medallions that Ryszard Kubicki wore on his chest throughout the war, with a blessing from his mother and a French chaplain (also a POW).

The gift was given to the Museum by Tomasz Kowalik, nephew of Mr Ryszard. Our sincere thanks! We will return the favour with a commemorative album with images of the memorabilia.
