Results of the competition to design a shirt with the message of history

One of the final tasks of the ‘Reverberations 1944. From Warsaw to Lamsdorf’ project was to hold by the Museum a competition addressed to the students of the Public High School of Fine Arts in Opole.

The background to the competition was the exhibition entitled ‘The Shadow was only left’, presented for a fortnight at the Opole railway station, which the students of the ‘Plastyczniak’ had prepared under the supervision of their teacher of sculpture, Robert Suchiński. However, this unusual competition was opened to all student regardless of their year, course taken or whether they had participated in the preparation of the art installation at the station. This is because we made sure that young people received a rich package of iconographic materials related to the Warsaw Uprising and, above all, to its prisoner-of-war epilogue.

The vast majority of the works submitted for the competition were the output of the youngest adepts of visual arts from the first year, specialising in clothing design. The winning design was created by Magdalena Korbańska, while Alicja Pampuch got a distinction. The jury that responsible for selecting the best works, consisted of two invited to it men of art: Robert Suchiński and Marek Krajewski, as well as representatives of the Museum: Dominik Hadas and Zofia Szlęg. The works were anonymised before being judged.

Our congratulations to the winners of the competition! We would also like to thank the ‘Plastyczniak’ teachers for their help with the competition.
