Results of the 15th edition of the history competition

On Tuesday, 13 June, we organised the 18th edition of the educational session "If not memory, then what? Education at places of national remembrance." This year it was held at the Łambinowice seat of our Museum. After the lecture part combined with educational workshops on the grounds of the former Stalag 318/VIII F (344) Lamsdorf, it was time for the final of the XV edition of the national competition for historical project entitled "Before it's not too late".

The competition was organised by the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War, the Association of Friends of the CMJW, and the Starosta Office of Nysa County. It enjoyed the honorary patronage of: Prof. Piotr Gliński, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Sławomir Kłosowski, Voivode of Opole, Andrzej Buła, Marshall of the Opole Voivodship, Henryk Lakwa, Starosta of Opole Countythe Opole, Michał Siek, Voivodeship Superintendent of Education. The competition took place under the media patronage of TVP 3 Opole, Radio Opole, Radio Doxa and "Nowiny Nyskie".

The jury of the competition, composed of: Dr. Iwona Konopnicka – Chairwoman (Opole University), Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Buła (CMJW), Dr. Ewelina Klimczak-Czaplicka (CMJW), Dr. Kamil Weber (CMJW), Dr. Michał Jakubik (Secretary), assessed 49 projects and awarded the following:

  • First Prize: Paulina Kudlińska and Zuzanna Przybysz from Primary School in Grzywno for the project Our ancestors fell on the fronts of the First World War, supervised by Dr. Barbara Łaukajtys (178,5 pts.),
  • Second Prize: Łukasz Szuplewski from Integrated Primary School No 3 in Piastów for the project Warsaw Road 1944, supervised by Franciszek Malczewski (178 pts.),
  • Third Prize: Aleksander Turkowski from High School No. 4 in Chorzów for the project And yet we won’t forget, supervised by Krzysztof Grala (176 pts.),
  • Distinction: Monika Cisło, Laura Papiernik, Jan Zawadzki from Music School Complex in Tarnów for the project He did not experience his youth. The tragic story of Franciszek Solarz, an indomitable from Karwodrza, supervised by Andrzej Mleczo (168 pts.).

The tutors of the winning projects were awarded with prize gifts and all participants received commemorative diplomas.
