Reminder about the commemorative ceremony at the Site of Remembrance on 17 March
The commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf is ahead of us. We would like to remind you that the commemorative event will take place in front of the Monument to the Martyrdom of Prisoners of War, at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice, at 12.00 a.m., 17 March.
The programme of the anniversary commemoration includes speeches - also representatives of the families of former prisoners-of-war - a multi-faith prayer, a roll-call of remembrance, a gun salute, as well as the laying flowers at the Monument to the Martyrdom of Prisoners-of-War. Also, on the occasion of the Anniversary, we have prepared pithy leaflets providing a good introduction to the history of individual POW groups - soldiers of the armies which fought against the Wehrmacht, and who were held in Stalag 344 Lamsdorf after being taken prisoner by the Germans (see below). Our commemorative ceremony is dedicated to them.
