Relics of Stalag 318/VIII F (344) Lamsdorf in photographs. Invitation to the opening!

This Friday, on 30 September, at 6.15 p.m., at the Opole seat of the Museum, will take place the opening of a temporary exhibition 'Test for Presence'. It is composed of photographs taken in the ruins of the barracks of Stalag 318/VIII F (344) Lamsdorf by Sławoj Dubiel, a scholarship holder of the 'Marshal's Talents'. The opening takes place as part of the 12th Opole Photo Festival (OFF).

It is not the first time when the collaborating with our Museum photographer has directed the lens of his camera at the places where one of the largest Wehrmacht's POW complexes in Europe existed in the years 1939-1945. In 2012, his 'Natural History' exhibition, presented during the second edition of the OFF, documented both the traces of the tragic history of Lamsdorf/Łambinowice and their coexistence with nature. Now, the artist comes back to the theme, reminds it with his new works in which he focuses on the ruins of eight brick barracks which have recently been subjected to restoration and are one of the best-preserved part of the German-run prisoner-of-war camps from the period of Second Wold War.

To the opening you are invited by the Director of the CMJW, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, and the President of the Fundacja 2.8, Michał Grocholski. It will take place immediately after the official opening of the 12th Opole Photo Festival which is scheduled for 5.30 p.m. in the Municipal Public Library at 4 Minorytów Street - right next to the Museum.

'Test for Presence' exhibition will be displayed throughout October, from Monday to Friday at the Opole seat of the CMJW at 3 Minorytów Street, 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.
