Programme of the Night of Museums in Opole
The Night of Museums constitutes a European tradition which, since its first edition in Berlin in 1997, has become a permanent feature in the calendar of major cultural events, attracting crowds of art and history enthusiasts every year.
On 17 May, the city of Opole will once again shine with cultural splendour at this year's 17th edition of the Night of Museums. The ambiguous motto, ‘Night Silence’, brings together 16 Opole institutions which have prepared an incredibly rich and varied programme in which everyone should find something for themselves. The official opening of the event is scheduled for 6 p.m., and this night-time discovering of culture will last until 11:59 p.m. All the organisers hope that the museum and gallery spaces will be filled with the buzz of conversation and unforgettable sensations, and that for many of the youngest visitors this will be their first inspiring encounter with the world of culture and art.
For this special Night, we have prepared an offer aimed at both the youngest and grown-up audiences. All its elements - exhibitions (in particular the exhibition ‘The Shadow was only left’), workshops, a lecture and a radio play - are linked by one leading theme: it is the fate of the Warsaw insurgents taken to Stalag 344 Lamsdorf after the fall of the uprising. In addition, as dusk falls, i.e. after 10 p.m., the inhabitants of Opole will have an opportunity to watch films in the Museum's courtyard from the series ‘Lost Heritage’, which deal with art works plundered during the Second World War.
Here is the detailed programme of the Night of Museums of our institution:
