Professor Joachim Glensk will be the protagonist of the upcoming ‘Faces of Opole’
Professor Joachim Edward Glensk (1935-2023) was a figure with a rich and significant academic and artistic output for the development of the humanities. His extensive research into the history of the Silesian press and regional writing resulted in 38 monographs, including his life's work in the form of ‘The Black Book of the Polish Press’. Besides the academic work, the Professor became famous as the author of brilliant aphorisms as well as an enthusiast of astrology and amateur filmmaking.
It is our great pleasure to invite you to a meeting which will take place on 29 May at 5 p.m. in our Opole seat and will be dedicated to the life and work of Prof. Joachim Glensk - the man who is well-known and highly regarded not only among residents of Opole. The event fits in very well not only with the ‘Faces of Opole’ series, but also with this year's 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Museum, as the hero of the meeting proved on many occasions that the history of the Memorial in Łambinowice deserves attention. An example of this is, among others, the interesting film documentary entitled ‘Epicedion’, made and directed by the Professor in 1967.
Prof. Dr. Krystyna Kossakowska-Jarosz, Dr. Monika Choroś and Jeremiusz Glensk, his son, will be talking about the figure of Prof. Glensk.
You are cordially invited to attend the meeting!
