'Poster Against War' in Opole

From 7 February, in the Museum’s Opole seat at 3 Minorytów St., you can see a thought-provoking international exhibition with an artistic and social profile entitled Poster against War. The exibition is the outcome of the Museum's collaboration with the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, the Львівський палац мистецтв Lviv-Palace of Arts, and the Opole branch of the Association for Polish-Eastern Cooperation.

The authors of the graphic designs come from different countries such as Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, Germany, Armenia, Austria, Great Britain, France and Japan. Among them are well-known artists, but also very young and gifted artists who, thanks to this exhibition, have a chance to get with their message to the public.

The very concept of the exhibition consisting of anti-war posters originated at the Lviv Palace of Arts, an art gallery which, after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, was transformed into an aid centre. The project was helped to be implemented by the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław in association with the Wrocław Academic Centre. The posters present a broad spectrum of artistic techniques and approaches to the central theme: they emphasise the role and motives of Russia as the aggressor, address social and patriotic issues (e.g. supranational solidarity, affirmation of freedom), as well as the global impact of the war taking place on the fringes of Europe.

The exhibition is to be seen until 26 February 2024. It can be viewed every day (except Saturdays and Sundays) between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. You are cordially invited to visit the exibition!
