Porter of a Polish officer – the fifth instalment of the series …but that's a different story now

Since this January, on the last Monday of each month, the followers of the Museum have been watching successive episodes of the series … but that’s a different story now. Today is the premiere of the fifth episode entitled Portrait of a Polish Officer, which tells the story of a painting depicting Second Lieutenant Mieczysław Szybkowski, prisoner of Wehrmacht POW camps.

Together Bogusław Szybkowski, son of the portrayed officer and at the same time our donor, there are also featured employees of the District Museum in Nysa. Ewelina Małyk and Joanna Kluzek talk about the specialist conservative works conducted on the portrait in the last year. The presented documentary also reminds us of the backstage discovery of the truth about the mysterious author of the portrait, and many interesting facts from the life of Second Lieutenant Mieczysław Szybkowski.

The series was prepared by us at the end of 2020, thanks to the "Culture Available" programme, i.e. funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The idea, in accordance with concept of Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, was realized by Sławomir Mielnik.
