Poetic All Souls' Day – report
As part of the November ‘Łambinowice Museum Meeting’, we invited guests representing the Opole Branch of the Polish Writers' Union and Prof. Stanisław Górka, an actor and lecturer, who presented the museum audience with a recital inspired by the poetry of Czesław Miłosz.
The guests were welcomed by the deputy director of the Museum, Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Buła, and the parish priest of Łambinowice, Father Piotr Bałos, who was the originator of the Poetic All Souls' Day. During the event it was possible to hear poems by: Harry Duda, Elżbieta Lisak-Duda, Małgorzata Bobak-Końcowa, Edmund Borzemski, Adriana Jarosz, Jerzy Stasiewicz, Jan Szczurek, Ewa Maj-Szczygielska and Anna Tlałka. Each author presented a selection of his/her works on a theme that corresponded with the atmosphere of the meeting. The second part belonged to Prof. Stanisław Górka, whose recitations, singing and playing the classical guitar was quite a performance, highly appreciated by the audience.
The Poetic All Souls' Day concluded by us with a nice touch that was appropriate for this exceptional time: we honoured the donors involved in the ‘Give me a Memory’ social campaign who attended the meeting: Stanisława Borzemska and Edmund Borzemski, Danuta and Adam Kisielewicz, Slawomir Witkowski and Dawid Żak. It was thanks to their support that the restoration of more crosses at the Old POW Cemetery in Lambinowice was made possible.
In this year, there will be one more meeting as part of a well-liked cultural series aimed at the local audience. Its topic is unusual and very interesting. Details coming soon!
