Photographic reminiscences of Sławoj Dubiel

All Saints' Day and the following All Souls' Day is an exceptional time in our culture. Although this year on these days we won’t visit cemeteries, due to the pandemic which also badly affected this tradition, the reflection on death and commemorations those who departed will accompany us.

In this particular day, we publish pictures taken by Sławoj Dubiel, an artist photographer who has been collaborating with the Museum for many years now. In the past week, starting off from the Old Cemetery of Prisoners-of-War in Łambinowice, he photo-documented objects in the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice.

Out of seven thousand of the lined up, concrete crosses from 1914–1919, more than six thousand have survived, located far from human settlements, in the forest, and attracting everyone's attention. It is one of the largest war necropolises in Poland (http://www.cmjw.pl/en/miejsce-pamieci-narodowej2/the-old-pow-cemetery,7.html).
