Soon, after the formal issues have been finalised, works will start as part of the task ‘Restoration of the grave crosses at the Old Prisoners-of-War Cemetery in Łambinowice. The funds for this investment, PLN 121,032,00, have been allocated to the Łambinowice Commune within the framework of the ‘Graves and war cemeteries in the country’ programme by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The Opole Governor will add PLN 20,000 to the PLN 10,000 own contribution.

Our Museum has been very much involved in the restoration work conducted in the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice by initiating, planning and finding financial sources, and then taking part in the implementation of the project. It has been possible to carry out the restoration of almost 4,000 out of more than 6,000 crosses. Owing to this year’s funding, other 410 crosses will soon be renovated.

These works will be accompanied by promotional activities. A film will be produced to present the works related to renovation of the crosses, a competition for children and young people will be organised, and a meeting to summarise the restoration work will be held.
