Over PLN 120 thousand on restoration of crosses!

We are very content to inform that, base on documents published on gov.pl, the  Community of  Łambinowice has received funds from the programme "Graves and war cemeteries in the country" of the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sports, for the continuation of restoration works of the crosses in the Old POW Cemetery in Łambinowice. This year's financial support amounts to 100 thousand zlotys. The own contribution to the application was provided by the Governor of Opole – 20 thousand zlotys, and the Mayor of Łambinowice Community – 5 thousand zlotys.

Why do write about it? Our Museum has been very much involved in the restoration works conducted in the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice. Our role is to help to initiate, plan, find financial sources, and in many cases, to implement, document and supervise the works. In this way, since 2014, thanks to money from the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, the Association of Friends of the CMJW, the Council for the Protection of Remembrance of Combat and Martyrdom, the Provincial Conservator of Monuments, the Governor of Opole, the Romanian and Serbian authorities, as well as the good will of individuals, it has been possible to carry out the restoration of almost 4,000 out of more than 6,000 crosses, and the Serbian POW Monument (in the case of the graves of Romanian prisoners-of-war, beside of the graves themselves, also their immediate surroundings).

The total amount to be spent this year on the next stage of the restoration works is 125 thousand zlotys. We will keep you informed about the progress of the works. We invite you to follow our website to see it.
