Out participation in the 21st General Congress of Polish Historians in Białystok
From Tuesday to Friday (17–20 September 2024) there was taking place the 21st General Congress of Polish Historians in Białystok. It was one of the most important meetings of the historical community in Poland. This year's edition was attended by Maria Bula from the CMJW’s Research Department.
The central theme of the Congress was “Man as the Creator of History.” As Prof. Cezary Kuklo, Head of the Organising Committee of the 21st General Congress of Polish Historians, stressed that “all our history is nothing else but the history of people”. The meeting, which this time was held in Białystok, was an opportunity to summarise previous achievements, share experiences and present new directions in historical research. The event included lectures, discussions, but also, a history book fair, showcases of films, exhibitions as well as board game shows.
Maria Bula, who was present at the Congress, presented her research during a poster session of young academics on the second day of the event (18 September). The subject of her talk was Service like any other? Commanders of the Lamsdorf camp complex during the Second World War. Maria Bula's work is closely related to the research activities of our Museum.
The poster session is a form of research presentation in which participants present the results of their researches on specially prepared (paper) posters. These contain key information about the research. During the poster session, the authors are standing next to their posters, what makes it easier for the conference participants to ask questions, exchange of ideas and information and discuss them in a more direct way.
