Our museum initiative was recognized as Museum Event of the Year 2022!

During a ceremony at the Jan Kochanowski Theatre, there were presented awards in an annual competition organised under the auspices of the Self-government of the Opole Province. The Opole Voivodeship Marshal's Awards for Animators and Creators of Culture were received by the most active and interesting cultural leaders in the region. Among them there was the Museum with the award "Museum Event of the Year 2022" for "They were here" art and social action.

The award-winning action was organised as part of the project entitled "Freedom is in them. Warsaw Insurgents 1944-2022" (funded from the Multiannual Programme NIEPODLEGŁA for 2017-2022), and was closely related to historical events whose heroes were the captured Warsaw insurgents – taken by rail from Warsaw neighbourhoods to Lamsdord. Alongside the Museum, there was involved in the campaign the Opole rail operator of the brandname POLREGIO, and particularly Sylwia Jaeschke and the Ekostudio Theatre, which was responsible for the artistic side.

The award for the Museum was received by its director Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, accompanied by Dominik Hadas representing the Department of Education and Exhibitions. It is worth mentioning that in this year's edition Museum Events were selected only in the "educational initiative" and "exhibition" categories. Apart from us, the awarded were: the Museum of the Opole Village in Opole, the Koźle Land Museum in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, the Museum of Opole Silesia, and the Museum in Praszka. Alongside the museum workers, awards were also presented to cultural animators and creators, among whom we were pleased to see those who cooperate with the Museum: Andrzej Jakubczyk, Patrycja Kostyra, Daria Ogon and Robert Suchinski.

Congratulations to all the awarded!
