Order for Professor Adam Szpadelski at the request of the Museum

On 15 September, during the meeting dedicated to the person of Zofia Arcimowicz, at the Museum of Pawiak Prison - a branch of the Museum of Independence, there was an important and at the same time fine ceremony of presenting Professor Adam Szpaderski with the 'Custodian of National Memory' prize.

This prestigious distinction has been given by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage at the request of the Museum and proves that the Professor’s scientific and social activities fit well into the Polish strategy for managing the cultural sphere. Indeed, the main achievement of the Laureate is conceptualisation of a scientific sub-discipline that has been developing since 2017 - the Economics of Memorial Sites. The Ministry’s decision was doubtlessly influenced by the fact that Professor Adam Szpadelski is not only a respected academic, but also a practitioner, holding a number of positions such as: Chief Consultant for Strategy and Education Management of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim, Chair of the Council of the Gross-Rosen Museum in Rogoźnica, Education Strategy Advisor to the Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo, Senior Consultant for Strategy and Education Management at the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War, and Chairman of the Consortium Council of ‘League of POW Remembrance’ Network.

We warmly congratulate the Professor on the distinction and trust in the success of our further cooperation for the benefit of POW memory!
