Opole events in commemoration of National Day of Remembrance of the "Cursed Soldiers"

As it is each year, on 1 March, ceremonies commemorating the National Day of the Cursed Soldiers were held throughout Poland. At the invitation of the Governor of Opole Province Sławomir Kłosowski, the Museum director, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, attended the Opole part of them.

The event began at 1 p.m. in front of the Monument to the Soldiers of the Independence Underground in Plac Wolności (Independence Square). The ceremony was accompanied by the 10th Logistics Brigade in Opole.

At this particular moment, the Museum recalls the figure of an exceptionally indomitable soldier and prisoner-of-war, Cavalry Captain Witold Pilecki. His wartime biography includes spells of captivity in Stalag 344 Lamsdorf and Oflag VII A Murnau. This is the time when we have a proposal for online museum lessons addressed to students and teachers: "Witold - that sounds proud!" (grades 1-5 of primary school) and Rotmistrz Witold Pilecki (grades 6-8 primary school and students of high schools). You can book your lesson by phone 77 43 43 475 or via e-mail .

We encourage you to take advantage of the offer!
