Nationwide meeting of families of Polish prisoners-of-war from WWII

The Museum gets ready for another meeting of families of Polish prisoners-of-war. It will be hold online on 18 November 2022. At the moment we send invitations to the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Polish soldiers who were kept in the German and Soviet captivity, and who – once they have confirmed their participation – will be sent a link to MS Teams online platform.

Over the course of the meeting it will be possible to listen to speeches of the Museum researches (Dr. Anna Czerner, Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Buła, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, Dr. Piotr Stanek, Dr. Kamil Weber). The invitation to participate in the meeting was also accepted by: Sławomir Frątczak, head of the Katyn Museum in Warsaw, which is a partner of the CMJW in the event, and Prof. Anna Drążkowska (Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń), Prof. Anna Matuchniak-Mystkowska (University of Łódź), Sławomir Mielnik (co-author of the "...but that's a different story now" film series produced by the Museum), as well as Wiesław Wepa (son of Cpl. Jan Wepa, a prisoner-of-war of the Wehrmacht camps), Urszula Gawor (president of the Katyn Family Association in Opole, daughter of Lt. Kazimierz Ściślewski, a prisoner-of-war in the Kozielsk camp).

The event enjoys the honorary patronage of Jan Józef Kasprzyk, Head of Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, Teresa Stanek, President of the Board of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers, Izabella Sariusz-Skąpska, President of the Board of the Federation of Katyn Families Association, and the media patronage of "Histmag", Polish web portal dedicated to history. "Tygodnik Powszechny" is a partner of the meeting.
