Museum has received Marhal's award

Yesterday, at the Jan Kochanowski Theatre in Opole, was held a ceremony of presenting awards in the field of culture. On behalf of our staff, the Special Award of the Marshal of the Opole Province for the Museum Event of the Year 2021 in the category the best exhibition was accepted by the Director of the Museum, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska.

The jury and the Marshal gave recognition to the "Place with a Scar" exhibition located on the site of the former Stalag 318/VIII F (344) Lamsdorf. It consists of a model of the camp grounds, a timeline, information guides, a Wall of Reflection and the art installation "Presence", as well as an exhibition and educational section in a reconstructed hut. The exhibition was ceremonially opened on 17 March, during the celebrations of the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf. Its construction was possible thanks to funding from the European Regional Development Fund under the Opolskie Voivodeship Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020 and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage under the Promesa Programme.

The award is the result of work of our team: Anna Czerner, Ewelina Klimczak, Renata Kobylarz-Buła, Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, Monika Sobczak, Anna Wickiewicz, Sebastian Mikulec and Michał Nadybski. Artur Lubos, Aleksandra Lubos-Zadroż, Tomasz Kozik, Marek Krajewski and Alicja Schatton-Lubos were responsible for the spatial design. The proofreading was done by Katarzyna Gierszewska-Widota, and translations by: Maciej Byczynski (Braille), Rafal Drewniak, Jacek Jędrzejowski (English), Wojciech Dzido, Rainer Sachs (German), Yevgeni Liszczuk (Russian) and Luigi Marinelli (Italian).

Let us remind you than it is not the first recognition for the "Place with a Scar". In June 2022 it qualified to the Final of the National Open Competition 'Modernisation of the Year & Construction of the 21st Century'.

At yesterday's gala, recognitions were also awarded in the following categories: educational initiative, book publications, conservation and protection of cultural heritage, and scientific research projects.

Our sincere congratulations to all the winners.
