Museum Director at meeting of the Association of Polish Museum Professionals

On 6-7 October, the Castle Museum in Malbork will be hosting representatives of museums - institutional members of the Association of Polish Museum Professionals (SMP in Polish). Our institution will be represented by its director, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, and the main theme of the conference is a change, considered on two levels: memory and society.

The programme of the meeting is ample and already from the first day includes speeches given by the Director of the National Institute for Museums, Dr. Paulina Florjanowicz, and the President of ICOM Poland, Dr. Piotr Rypson, as well as keynote speeches deliver by experts regarding the social functioning of cultural institutions: Professor Jan Rydel, curator of the Museum of Young Poland "Rydlówka" in Kraków, Polish representative on the advisory committees of the Bergen-Belsen and Mauthausen memorial sites, and Professor Jacek Gądecki, who does reaserch, among other things, into the processes of transformation of urban space, including its gentrification.

The second day of the conference will also be focused largely on the sociological, or broadly speaking, the social perspective, with the keynote addresses by the Professors Cezary Obracht-Prondzyński and Bogdan Szlachta. The congress will be concluded with a plenary debate with the participation of members of the SMP General Board, and - as an accompanying event - a visit to the Malbork Castle Museum.
