Monodrama inspired by the life of Zofia Książek-Bregułowa

This Saturday, 9 April, on the Kameralna Stage of the Kwadrat Theatre in Warsaw will be hosted the premiere of Nieostrość widzenia [The Blur of Vision], a play inspired by the life of Zofia Książek-Bregułowa. The play, in the form of a monodrama by Ewa Ziętek, who celebrates her 50th anniversary of stage work this year, is based on a text by Remigiusz Grzela and directed by Wawrzyniec Kostrzewski.

Zofia Książek-Bregułowa (1920–2014), an actress, poet, and above all a participant of the Warsaw Uprising-cum-prisoner-of-war is a very well known person for those who participate in the Museum’s daily activities. In November 2021, she was the heroine of the 11th episode of …but that’s a different story now series (to be watched here) and her blouse, converted from a skirt sewn in captivity, is a priceless object in the collection of the CMJW since the opening of Portraits of POWs exhibition in 2009. The story of this piece of fabric is the basis of a scenario for a museum lesson – a story about the fate of female prisoners-of-war who took part in the Warsaw Uprising.

Ewa Ziętek is an actress who needs no introduction. Her monodrama Nieostrość widzenia is also the artist's personal reflection on her life choices and professional achievements.
