Meeting of the members of the Association of Friends of the CMJW

All the Museum sympathisers wishing to actively support the esteemed by them institution can do so by joining the Association of Friends of the CMJW. The latest meeting of the Association took place on 14 June at the Museum's seat in Opole.

During the meeting, there were discussed and voted on all issues relevant to the work of the Association, including securing funds for its further activities. There was also presented a report on the Association's activities to date, indicating all the tasks it has supported - either financially or organisationally - including flagship projects that have been building the Museum's image in the region and across the country for years. These include the POW Poetry Recitation Contest Let's not lose our memory and the national contest for historical project Before It's Not too Late, as well as the annual educational session If not memory, then what? Education at places of national remembrance. The activity report was accepted by the attendees.

The meeting was also an opportunity to officially thank those involved in the social action "Give Me a Memory". Let us remind you that this is an initiative taken and coordinated by the Association in order to preserve the cultural heritage of the Old POW Cemetery in Łambinowice. Our gratitude was expressed to the following Museum supporters: Ryszard Czerwiński and Tomasz Kwiatek, as well as employees of the CMJW: Czesława Szpaczyńska and Dawid Żak.

It should also be noted that, in addition to the above-mentioned individuals, Dr. Iwona Konopnicka and Agnieszka Lechun, acting as President and Treasurer of the Association respectively, and Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska and Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Buła, Director and Deputy Director of the Museum, joined the 'Give Me a Memory' campaign last year. In addition, the donation was made by Radosław Wyrzucki, who, due to his membership in the "Triselion" detecting society, will be thanked for this financial support during the upcoming archaeological work at the Łambinowice memorial site.
