"Kongres Niepodłegła" takes place now

Today, at the Legia Warsaw Conference Centre, has started a two-day conference "Kongres Niepodległa". The event provides an opportunity to summarize the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Poland's regaining independence and set directions for educational and popularization activities related to important historical events. The Museum, which has been a beneficiary of the "Niepodległa" grant programmes on numerous occasion, is represented by Director Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska and Deputy Director Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Buła.

During the congress, plenary sessions and panel discussions are held under four thematic patterns: heritage and its role in building historical memory; modern education for participation in culture; inter-institutional and intersectoral cooperation for culture and heritage; and building up and promoting Poland's image abroad.

The debates are attended by persons, such as Professor Piotr Gliński, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Dr. Jarosław Sellin, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Government Plenipotentiary for the Celebration of the Centenary of Polish Independence, or Dr. Paulina Florjanowicz, Director of the National Institute of Museums and Collections Protection, responsible for, among other things, creating the cultural policy and the directions of its founding at the national level. Representatives of local governments, cultural institutions non-governmental organizations, scientists, patrons of culture and the media also participate in the event.

The Museum, together with the Association of Friends of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War, has implemented two projects from the 2017-2022 INDEPENDENCE Multiannual Programme: "Freedom is in them. Warsaw insurgents 1944-2022' (with the action "They were here") and "Independence regained and lost. 1918/1939/1945/1989. The cornerstones of family memory".
