Jubilee of the University of Opole

The University of Opole celebrates this year its 30th anniversary of existence. Last Friday, 8 March, there was held a gala ceremony at the Jan Kochanowski Theatre. Out Museum was represented during the event by its Director, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska.

It was 30 years ago when the University of Opole was established. The institution was established on the base of the already existing for 40 years the Higher Pedagogical College, and the Theological and Pastoral Institute (a branch of the University of Lublin), operating in Opole since 1981. The Sejm of the Republic of Poland, during its 14th sitting on 10th March 1994, passed the bill on establishing this new university. Many of us have graduated from it. The University is an important centre of the scientific and cultural life of our city.

On the occasion of this social jubilee, we would like to congratulate all members of the University community and extend our warmest wishes for further successes, a continuing passion for their quest for searching for and passing on knowledge, and fruitful cooperation with the international scientific community. May the years to come be a time of development, innovation and success.
