The last resident of Lubomirski Palace. General Mieczysław Smorawiński – report on the opening of the exhibition

On 18 September this year, in the Opole seat of the Museum, took place the opening of the National Museum in Lublin’s temporary exhibition The last resident of Lubomirski Palace. General Mieczysław Smorawiński.

The opening ceremony was attended, among others, by the creators of the exhibition: Barbara Oratowska, the author of the scenario and curator and deputy director of the National Museum in Lublin responsible for exhibitions and education, Konrad Kufel – a member of the team, as well as the authors of the spatial arrangement - Marek and Maciej Mikulski. After an introductory speech given by Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, director of the CMJW, the curator of the exhibition presented the concept and circumstances of its completion, and explained the behind-the-scenes organisation of it, which, as it turned out, was closely connected with the laborious process of acquiring Gen. M. Smorawiński's family memorabilia by the Lublin museum.

Konrad Kufel from the National Museum in Lublin conducted a tour of the exhibition, and the invited guests could familiarize on their own with the exhibition and obtain answers to additional questions. Representatives of the media who came to the opening were also interested in a number of issues. Interviews were given by, among others, Barbara Oratowska, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Buła and Dominik Marcinkowski from the CMJW’s Section of Communication and Public Image.

We would like to thank all the visitors for their keen interest in the exhibition! We will soon publish information on the educational offer accompanying the exhibition.
