Smell of a Bread. The Premier of the 4th episode of the series

While conducting our scientific, research and educational work at the Museum, we have many opportunities to learn and then share knowledge about the fate of British prisoners-of-war, especially those who were detained in Stalag VIII B Lamsdorf during the Second World War. In total, there were about 48 thousand of them in there! This is why, for the third time, as part of the ,,..but that’s a different story now” series, there is presented a film about this very group of prisoners.

Smell of a Bread episode would not have been produced if it were not for friendly relations with the former British POWs and their families who pay visits to the Museum and the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice. One of them is Sandra Anderson who, as many of our guests do, brought with her (in 2018 and 2019) POW memorabilia: a collection of photographs, elements of uniforms, and moreover, documents of her father, Julian John May. It is thanks to these gifts and many endless conversations we have learned quite a few interesting and poignant facts from the wartime and POW spell of Mrs Sandra's father's life. There is therefore no shortage of personal and moving reminiscences in the film prepared.

You are welcome to watch Smell of a Bread.

The series was prepared by us thanks to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage funding. It is produce, according to the concept of Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, by Sławomir Mielnik.

The next episode of the series is scheduled for May 30.
