Invitation to 'Lamsdorf/Łambinowice. Archaeology at the Site of Remembrance' exibition

This new exposition is a kind of smoothly presented and richly illustrated recapitulation of the work that has been carried out over the last two years at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice as part of the research project ‘Science for Society, Society for Science at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice.’

During the forthcoming ‘Łambinowice Museum Meeting’, on 8 May at 5 p.m., there will be a ceremonial opening of the exhibition which we are going to present in Łambinowice until 21 June. After that, the exhibition will be taken to our the Museum’s Opole seat at 3 Minorytów Street.

The curators of the exhibition are the following archaeologists: Dr. Dawid Kobiałka, Michał Pawleta, Associate Professor of the UAM, and Dr. Kamil Karski, and its content and final form were consulted with the Museum workers. Marek Krajewski was responsible for the graphic design as well as prepared the guidebook. In her introduction to it, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, director of the Museum and at the same time a participant in the project, writes, among other things, about the genesis of the very idea of archaeological excavations in the area of the Site of Remembrance: ‘The exhibition is the culmination of a thought that had matured in us, the workers of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War, for a long time. In the process, it also changed its shape: it grew, enlarged by successive threads fuelled by the historical curiosity constantly accompanying us, or it shrank, limited by possibilities, because certainly not by doubts’.

It is up to you to decide whether the completion of the project is a successful one, while inviting you to visit!
